Frequently Asked Questions

how long is your turnaround time?

Most projects take 3 to 5 days to complete, but it depends on the length of the project. A single mix or master will usually take three to five days whereas a full length album will usually take 7 to 10 days. I try to spend quality time on each project, listening to the song on multiple systems, in different places, and over the course of a few days. Your mixes mean a lot to you and as such I want to treat them with the proper time and care they need.

what is the difference between mixing and mastering?

Once you've finished recording your tracks, the next step is to get them mixed. At this stage, you'll have all of your individual tracks (vocals, guitar, drums, etc.) recorded, but they still need to be balanced and individually compressed, EQ'd, widened, etc. This is a crucial process in the taking your songs to the next level.

Once your tracks are mixed, they are then ready for mastering. Mastering takes a listen to the song as a whole and prepares it for mass distribution. This means ensuring your song sounds good in multiple listening environments, making sure you have the high quality file types needed for distribution, and applying EQ, Compression, widening, etc. to the entire mix as a final polish.

how do i send you my files?

For mixing, I will need all of your recorded tracks sent individually as WAV files. Depending on what DAW or program you are using, you will need to export all of your files into a folder. You can then use a free service like wetransfer.com, dropbox, google drive, or any other cloud service to upload your files and link them to me. If you have any trouble or questions about this stage, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to walk you through it.

what files do i get when the project is done?

Once everything is complete, I will send you a high quality WAV and MP3 file of your project. If you are only getting a mix done, your file will have the proper headroom available to send it off for mastering.

how do i pay for the project?

All payments are handled securely through PayPal Invoicing. Please note that you do not need a PayPal account to use the invoice, just a credit or debit card. I do not charge upfront for single projects and will send you a sample before any payment is made.
